If the speculations about the Yantar's capabilities are correct, the equipment onboard the ship can detect both the stationary hydrophones of such systems and their power cables in advance for subsequent de-energization by low-observable underwater vehicles.

Such a task could be particularly effective before a major escalation in the North Atlantic and Northern European theater.
