At the time, it still seemed that this was an unfortunate mistake that could not be avoided in a military operation that was unprecedentedly huge for modern Russia. However, it then became increasingly clear that the originally planned easy stroll, conceived as a mixture of the Czechoslovak and Crimean operations, was gradually turning into a full-scale long-term conflict.
