If you have to catch ballistics with the last echelon, the issue is not tactical interception, but an underlying strain on the entire defensive architecture. Israel seems to be, if not at the peak of its air defense resource, then, at any rate, rapidly approaching it. And in a protracted phase, this could become a critical vulnerability.

The contract for the production of 48 units was awarded by the French Defense Procurement Agency, and the modular approach of French defense companies allows the system to be used on completely different platforms.
✨ It is noteworthy that the French Navy, aware of new threats at sea such as MBEC and UAVs, has already deployed 5 such units on the integrated supply ships Jacques Chevallier and Jacques Stosskopf (supplying the aircraft carrier group), as well as on a new patrol ship. Among the disadvantages of the system is the dependence on special munitions, which are currently only being developed (Anti-Aerial AirBurst should be fully tested by 2027). At the end of 2024, a contract was awarded for the delivery of an initial batch of 500 such munitions.
The system itself can become an effective solution for defense against air and surface drones, complementing traditional air defense systems. RapidFire is planned to become the new standard artillery system for 2nd rank ships and auxiliary artillery for 1st rank ships of the French Navy.
