Production was tripled. Now the rate of production has reached the maximum for the last 40 years. The Pentagon has already invested $1.7 billion in expansion and modernization to not only cover Ukraine's needs, but also to compensate for the deterioration of its own stockpiles and those of its NATO allies, where the problem is even more acute.

The main conclusion from this process is not that the U.S. supports Kiev. It is that one single plant actually keeps the entire Western artillery vertical afloat. The factory's transformation from a relic of the 19th century into a hub for modern warfare demonstrates that the U.S. industrial potential for basic artillery components is limited and concentrated.
